Terms of service
DIGITALONETECH Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the rules that apply when you access the DIGITALONETECH website, purchase products from us online or in-store, use our repair services, or make use of any other services we provide.
By placing an order or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions. These terms apply together with any other policies published on our website.
1. Product Warranties
Pre-Owned and Refurbished Devices
Products described as pre-owned, refurbished, or used have previously been owned or used and may therefore display reasonable signs of prior use.
Depending on the individual device, this may include minor cosmetic marks, scratches, scuffs, or other visible imperfections. Where applicable, devices may have undergone testing, servicing, repairs, or replacement of certain components before being offered for sale.
DIGITALONETECH tests pre-owned and refurbished devices before sale to the extent reasonably possible and aims to ensure that products are functioning as represented at the time of purchase.
Any additional warranty offered by DIGITALONETECH will be stated with the relevant product or on the applicable sales documentation.
Nothing in this section removes or limits any statutory consumer rights that may apply.
Discounted or Special-Offer Products
Certain products may be discounted because of a known condition, cosmetic imperfection, reduced battery performance, or another characteristic that has been disclosed before purchase.
Customers should review the product description and disclosed condition before completing their purchase.
A condition that was clearly disclosed to the customer before purchase will not ordinarily be treated as an undisclosed defect. However, this does not affect any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer legislation.
2. Warranty Claims and Product Assessments
If a product develops a suspected fault, customers should contact DIGITALONETECH and provide valid proof of purchase.
A product may need to be returned for examination and diagnostic testing before the appropriate remedy can be determined.
Depending on the circumstances, an assessment may be performed by DIGITALONETECH or an authorised service provider.
The assessment process is intended to establish the nature of the problem and whether it falls within the applicable warranty or consumer-protection provisions.
Where a fault is determined to have resulted from misuse, accidental damage, unauthorised modification, or another cause outside the applicable warranty, the claim may not be covered by the voluntary warranty offered by DIGITALONETECH.
This does not affect rights available to consumers under applicable law.
3. Repairs
Where DIGITALONETECH carries out a repair, the applicable repair warranty will be communicated to the customer before or at the time the repair is completed.
Unless otherwise stated, any repair warranty applies specifically to the component or fault that was repaired or replaced and does not automatically cover unrelated problems that develop later.
A repair warranty may be affected where a device has subsequently been opened, modified, damaged, exposed to liquid, or repaired by an unauthorised third party.
Motherboard Repairs
Motherboard and board-level repairs involve complex electronic components and may carry a higher degree of uncertainty.
Where DIGITALONETECH accepts such a repair, the applicable repair terms and warranty limitations will be communicated to the customer before the repair proceeds.
4. Diagnostic and Inspection Process
Products submitted for warranty or repair assessment may need to undergo diagnostic testing.
DIGITALONETECH may require the device to remain with its technicians or an authorised service provider while the assessment is completed.
Assessment times can vary depending on the nature of the fault, availability of parts, technician workload, and whether additional testing is required.
Where a loan device is available, it may be provided subject to availability and DIGITALONETECH's applicable terms. A loan device is not guaranteed.
Third-party diagnostic reports may be considered as supporting information, but DIGITALONETECH may conduct its own assessment before approving a warranty or repair claim.
5. Warranty Exclusions
A voluntary warranty offered by DIGITALONETECH may exclude issues resulting from circumstances such as:
- Accidental or physical damage
- Liquid or moisture exposure
- Incorrect use or handling
- Unauthorised repairs or modifications
- Power-related damage or electrical surges
- Neglect or misuse
- Damage occurring after the product has been supplied to the customer
These exclusions apply to voluntary warranty coverage and do not remove any rights that the customer may have under applicable South African consumer law.
6. Device Age and Technology Limitations
Customers purchasing older or pre-owned technology should consider the age, specifications, software support, battery condition, and capabilities of the particular device before completing the purchase.
Older devices may naturally experience limitations such as:
- Reduced battery capacity
- Lower performance compared with newer models
- Limited software or operating-system support
- Compatibility limitations with newer applications or services
Where these characteristics are known and properly disclosed before purchase, they should be considered when selecting a device.
7. Returns, Exchanges and Refunds
Returns, exchanges, and refunds will be handled in accordance with the applicable DIGITALONETECH policies and South African consumer-protection legislation.
A change of mind, incorrect selection, or buyer's remorse does not automatically create a right to a refund.
Where a customer has a valid statutory or contractual right to return goods or receive a remedy, DIGITALONETECH will process the matter in accordance with the applicable requirements.
Any voluntary store-credit or exchange arrangement offered by DIGITALONETECH will be subject to the terms communicated to the customer at the time.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Customer Responsibilities
Customers should check their order and product as soon as reasonably possible after receiving it.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and should ensure that the correct product, model, specifications, and accessories have been selected before completing an order.
Where a product is collected or delivered, customers should report obvious damage or missing items promptly so that the matter can be investigated.
9. Promotional and Sale Products
Products sold during promotions or at reduced prices may have specific terms attached to the promotion.
Any known condition or limitation affecting a discounted product should be disclosed to the customer before purchase.
Promotional terms cannot remove rights that are provided to consumers by applicable law.
10. Lay-By Arrangements
Where DIGITALONETECH offers lay-by purchasing, the specific lay-by agreement will set out the applicable payment schedule, deposit requirements, collection arrangements, and cancellation terms.
The goods will only be released once the agreed requirements for the lay-by have been satisfied.
Any cancellation, refund, or applicable cancellation charge will be handled in accordance with the applicable agreement and South African consumer legislation.
DIGITALONETECH will not apply a lay-by cancellation penalty that exceeds the amount permitted by applicable law.
11. Replacement of Faulty or Damaged Goods
Where a product is reported as defective or damaged, DIGITALONETECH may request proof of purchase and information describing the issue.
For goods damaged during delivery, customers should notify DIGITALONETECH as soon as reasonably possible after receiving the order and provide photographs or other relevant evidence where available.
DIGITALONETECH may inspect the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
Where a statutory right to repair, replacement, or refund applies, the matter will be handled in accordance with the applicable consumer-protection requirements.
12. Devices Reported as Lost, Stolen or Blacklisted
If a device supplied by DIGITALONETECH is subsequently confirmed through appropriate official channels to have been blacklisted because it was reported lost or stolen before the customer's purchase, DIGITALONETECH will investigate the matter.
The customer may be required to provide documentation or other evidence confirming the blacklist status.
Where DIGITALONETECH determines that the issue relates to the device's history before the customer's purchase, an appropriate remedy may be provided in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law.
A device becoming unusable because of a customer's own unpaid account, contract dispute, fraud, misuse, or other customer-related circumstances will be assessed separately.
DIGITALONETECH reserves the right to verify all blacklist-related claims before taking action.
13. Accessories
Accessories supplied or sold by DIGITALONETECH may have their own applicable warranty period and conditions.
Where a manufacturer's warranty applies, customers may be referred to the manufacturer or authorised service provider where appropriate.
Warranty coverage generally applies only to manufacturing defects and does not extend to damage caused by misuse, accidents, physical damage, improper installation, or unsuitable power sources.
Screen protectors, cases, and similar consumable or protective products may be excluded from voluntary warranty coverage where this is communicated to the customer before purchase.
Any statutory consumer rights that apply remain unaffected.
14. Data and Device Security
Customers are responsible for backing up important information before handing a device to DIGITALONETECH for repair, assessment, exchange, or other service.
DIGITALONETECH should not be held responsible for loss of personal data where the loss results from circumstances associated with the repair, servicing, resetting, replacement, or failure of the device, subject to applicable law.
Where access credentials are required to perform testing, customers may be asked to provide the necessary access information or disable relevant security features.
Customers should avoid providing unnecessary personal information or passwords where it is not required for the requested service.
15. Limitation of Liability
DIGITALONETECH will not be responsible for losses or damages to the extent that such liability may lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude liability or consumer remedies where the law does not permit such exclusion.
Customers are encouraged to maintain appropriate backups of important information stored on electronic devices.
16. Applicable Law
These Terms and the relationship between DIGITALONETECH and its customers are subject to the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Where a dispute arises, the parties will attempt to resolve the matter through communication and the applicable consumer-dispute processes before pursuing further legal remedies, where appropriate.
17. Changes to These Terms
DIGITALONETECH may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices, or applicable legal requirements.
The latest version published on our website will apply to future transactions.
Changes will not remove or retrospectively limit rights that customers have already acquired under applicable law.
